Trust & Estate Administration

We advise executors and beneficiaries on the court-supervised disposition of a deceased person’s assets (probate). This representation ranges from brief assistance with the filing of the required probate forms to a more active role in the collection and distribution of a deceased person’s assets. Sometimes this involves the preparation of estate income tax returns and estate tax returns.

Trust administration includes advising trustees and beneficiaries regarding the unusual tax laws relating to trusts and regarding the rules for the ongoing administration of a trust. This includes advising a trustee about specific trust provisions to ensure that the trustee is satisfying his or her fiduciary duty to the trust beneficiaries. Even after a person’s death, measures can be taken to minimize taxes and administrative burdens for the estate or trust and the beneficiaries.
